On Friday 29th April the 3A and 3F went to Cap Nort to watch a puppet show « Meet Fred » in English ! It was a great puppetry show !
The story :
It is the story of Fred, a puppet. First Fred needs a job because his theater company wants him to earn money. So he becomes a puppet animator for children. Then the theater company director organizez a date for him. Fred meets Lucile but she is very surprised because she did not expect a puppet. So, she leaves the date. He is very sad so he drinks a lot of alcohol. So he completely fails in front of children so he is fired. Fred is desperate and the director tells him that a lot of puppets can replace him. So Fred wants to commit suicide. But at that moment his maker appears and tells him that he is free to choose his own life.
The students’ opinions :
We enjoyed the show because the story is open, Fred always has the choice. The show reminded me of other puppets for adults. It is a puppet show but it is for adults. The play is inclusive : one of the actors is trisomic. Plus the show criticizes fatphobia.
Fred’s life is like a teenage life with all the « first times ». However unlike Fred, we can not break reality.
